Town: Magnolia, Mississippi Deaf dog: Joxer is a 15 month old Great Dane. "Joxer is just a sweet lovable goof-ball. He goes to work everyday with my mom and I at the flower shop. He loves people, but sometimes, of course, he can be a little bit mischievious. I have learned a lot from Joxer, and I have more respect for deaf people than I did before. I have a different, almost stronger, connection with Joxer than I do with my other dogs." Human companions: Jennifer C. Town: Water Valley, Mississippi Deaf dog: Frankie is a 3 year old American Pit Bull Terrier mix. "Frankie's a great guy. We adopted him in May of 2002 after we saw him on petfinder.org. He is so smart. Most people don't believe he's deaf because he's so attentive. He doesn't miss a thing. Anyone looking for a dog shouldn't rule out a deaf dog. Town: Biloxi, Mississippi Deaf dog: Aurora is a 5 month old Great Dane. "Aurora is the sweetest and very curious to learn. She loves to go to the beach! I got her from a breeder in Mobile, Alabama. I have always wanted a Great Dane and she was deaf and I am, too, and had to get her! She loves for you to play with her toys!" But Shadow is also blind, he can see just enough to get around." Town: Purvis, Mississippi Deaf dog: 7 week old white boxer with no name yet. His human pals write: "When they say boxers are people dogs, he holds up to that. Every step I take, I have to look down to make sure he isn't right there under my feet. We have had him for 3 days now and he's adapting to the house well. He will not go to sleep anywhere unless you are right there beside him and he has to have body contact with us.
